It's one year to the day since I first published End Storm. With a December 1st release date in mind, but uncertain about how long the Kindle publishing process would take, I submitted the book more than a day in advance.
Around this time twelve months ago, the first sales were trickling in on both sides of the Atlantic. An exciting experience for a first time author!
Since then, I've self-published three short stories and another novel (Earthed). I've expanded to publish on Nook, Kobo, Smashwords and iBooks, where End Storm was hand-picked for the Apple Breakout Books promotion.
And, of course, what better anniversary present for a British Horror author than to be sitting at number one in the British Horror chart at the biggest bookstore in the world?
But more than anything it's been thrilling to chat with readers and other authors, which is how most self-published authors spend a good deal of their time. I've met some wonderful people, and made some very good friends.
Thanks go out to my editor/formatter/cover designer/trailer maker Ish Ferris, as well as my good friends Neil Pearson (for his work on the poster), and Mark Beddows for many of the smart ideas that went into the books.
It's been a fun ride, and here's to many more anniversaries!
