Good luck :) I've been given a guest spot in the Authors Speak Out section of the website BittenByBooks, to discuss the background to my latest novel The Absent. It may be a familiar story to many readers.
Check it out! http://bittenbybooks.com/authors-speak-out-maz-marik/ The Absent is now out and available to buy! You can get it now from Amazon US, Amazon UK, B&N (Nook), the iBookstore, Kobo and Smashwords. Watch this space, or follow my new Twitter account, for more details! Based on genuine accounts, The Absent is a terrifying and moving story about three young people who find themselves unable to trust their own senses - a situation many dementia sufferers experience every single day. I hope you enjoy it, and I will try not to take so long over the next book! Big news! After too many delays for a million different reasons, I'm finally gearing up for the big launch: The Absent is nearly here! Release day will be May 3rd 2015. Based on genuine accounts, The Absent is a terrifying and moving story about three young people who find themselves unable to trust their own senses - a situation many dementia sufferers experience every single day. Preorders on the new book are now open. Place your preorder at Amazon UK, Amazon US, B&N (Nook), the iBookstore and Smashwords. Watch this space, or follow my new Twitter account, for more details! I'll be posting an exclusive extract to the blog later this week! Hello all! Check out my radio interview with the lovely Lori Hays in which I discuss The Absent, my other novels and writing in general. I also share some amazingly good news, but you'll have to listen to find out just what that is!
Please ignore the strange echo on Lori's voice; I am assured it is a technical fault and she is not actually a member of a mysterious alien race. Enjoy! http://www.blogtalkradio.com/authorsontheair/2014/04/05/get-back-inside-the-head-of-horror-author-maz-marik For all those readers who haven't already done so, check out the new Facebook page for my forthcoming novel The Absent. You'll be able to read snippets from my research interviews, as well as see exclusive photos and videos in the build up to the release. Check it out now, and help the book reach 100 likes! It's been a quiet few months on the site, but behind the scenes all sorts of happenings have been occurring. I had originally planned to release my new novel in time for the date on which it is set - Mardi Gras, or Shrove Tuesday as it technically known in the UK (or Pancake Day as it is best known). However, due to those things going on behind the scenes that hasn't been possible. What I can do to mark Mardi Gras is offer a sneak peek at the cover of the new book. More new content will follow over the coming weeks, including extracts and more detailed articles on the book. But for now, without further ado, I give you the cover to my next novel The Absent... The book is currently in the process of final editing, so keep an eye on the site over the coming weeks for more news on a release date as well as more exciting The Absent content! It's one year to the day since I first published End Storm. With a December 1st release date in mind, but uncertain about how long the Kindle publishing process would take, I submitted the book more than a day in advance.
Around this time twelve months ago, the first sales were trickling in on both sides of the Atlantic. An exciting experience for a first time author! Since then, I've self-published three short stories and another novel (Earthed). I've expanded to publish on Nook, Kobo, Smashwords and iBooks, where End Storm was hand-picked for the Apple Breakout Books promotion. And, of course, what better anniversary present for a British Horror author than to be sitting at number one in the British Horror chart at the biggest bookstore in the world? But more than anything it's been thrilling to chat with readers and other authors, which is how most self-published authors spend a good deal of their time. I've met some wonderful people, and made some very good friends. Thanks go out to my editor/formatter/cover designer/trailer maker Ish Ferris, as well as my good friends Neil Pearson (for his work on the poster), and Mark Beddows for many of the smart ideas that went into the books. It's been a fun ride, and here's to many more anniversaries! My first novel End Storm hit the number one spot today on the Amazon.com British Horror Chart! The book also reached the heady heights of number 35 on the overall horror chart. Exciting times! In other news, my next novel, The Absent is almost ready to go to my editor Ish (authors, check his site out!), so expect more news on that soon! The Absent is not an End Storm Saga novel, but still features that characteristic Marik spookiness. Check back for exclusive pre-release extracts nearer to Xmas! |
